Supplements to keep you healthy

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

By Julia Brokhoff

Let's face it we need to be active throughout the day in order to not become couch potatoes. Exercise is energy - energy is power - and power is strength. But it's much more than that, especially these days when the demands of life seem to be more defying than ever. We need to be eating healthier in order to be more mentally responsive. I'm not talking about dieting - I looked up the word 'Diet' and one of the meanings for 'Diet', is to starve one's self. So let's not think of eating right or eating intelligently as dieting, because it's actually a way of life!

It's not how it used to be 150 years ago, not that any of us ever experienced what life was so long ago. The closest many of us ever came to what went on 150 years ago was from history class, that is if you were lucky enough to stay awake through some of those mono-toned lectures. History has taught us that even though life back then was harsh, it was simple. Today, we live life in the fast lane transportation is faster and technology has us trying to think more rapidly than what our minds were probably designed for. Our lives are one big multi-tasking mission 24 hours a day and we seldom take time out to care for ourselves. Anything we can do to condense our busy schedule so we have more time to our selves we will do, and sometimes this leads to noxious indulgence. Let's face it, fast food restaurants are abundant and you can't help pass several on your way home from work. Needless to say, we are easily tempted with conveniences in order to make our lives effortless, and we don't anticipate the consequences until we are way off course.

Not only are we faced with bad choices in our daily provisions, but our natural resources cannot replenish themselves as quickly as our population squanders them away. So the upside would be supplements, that is, just about the only way to get what our bodies are calling for we need to add supplements. In order to search for the right nutritional supplement, you should be asking yourself what would be the better choice pill form (solids), or a liquid form (absorbent). Let's face it, pills are a solid and doesn't quite absorb into your system as well and is not as responsive as we would like it to be . What your system doesn't absorb could either remain in your belly or simply goes to waste. A liquid supplement is more absorbent, it all goes to good use a better deal for your dollar! How many supplements are out on the market today that are in liquid form? Wouldn't it be great if you could simply find a product that is supported by several world known doctors?!" Here's to your health!

Sweating Excessively for No Reason? Six Causes for Sweating

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

By Victor Loentzo

Men and women struggling with excessive sweating are suffering from a serious problem. Excessive sweating often limits people's lives because we do our best to protect ourselves from being reviled as excessive sweaters. In the continuing article I will examine six of the most common reasons why some sweat too much.

*The food we put into our mouths are often one of the most common reasons for excessive sweating. An unhealthy diet with a lot of fat and sugar increases out level of sweating. Strong spices also increase the level we sweat. Spices like chili, garlic or curry also make the sweat smell worse.

*Coffee together with energy drinks or drinks with a high level of sugar are also not beneficial if you want to lower the level you sweat. Sure, an ice cold drink cools your body for a while, but the energy loaded ingredients will increase your blood pressure instantly and lead you to sweat more. The negative consequences of the ingredients will last longer than the cool down feeling the drinks will give you. Coffee is most often a hot drink and will also not help. Try water.

*If you thought smoking helped you calm down and sweat less you where wrong. The cigarette will probably help you for 10 minutes before the bodies' process of tricking you into taking the next cigarette starts. The toxics in cigarettes and the stress and uncomfortable reactions these causes is one of the biggest causes for excessive sweating. Also if you are an excessive sweater you only make things worse if you smoke.

*Chemicals in skin care and anti sweat products like antiperspirant is not good for those of us with excessive sweating. The chemicals fill up the pores in your body, making it hard for it to breathe. Excessive use of unnatural soap or lotions also increases excessive sweating.

*Shopping for clothes is not fun when you are an excessive sweater. However, when you do be sure to read the label that tells you what the clothes are made from. Use cotton or wool if it is cold and stay away from non natural materials. Acrylic socks are a common mistake, together with polyester shirts or suits. Let your body be able to breathe some air.

*Thinking about your sweat problem will only make it worse. When you are in a situation where you start to stress about your sweating or fearing that you will start to sweat, you only make it worse. It is hard, but when you notice that you start sweating, try to ignore it and start thinking about something completely different.

There are several cures for excessive sweating. Most of these will not help you and some will even make it worse. A favorite of mine is detoxing as I have referred to several time during this article. You have both internal detoxing in terms of removing strong spices, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and sugar from your diet. This I think is the toughest way.

External detoxing is the process of changing the way you clean your body. This includes changing your beauty and washing products as well as some other methods I have had great success with. The external detoxing, together with some of the other mentioned advices is what helped me stop sweating excessively.

Anti Aging Products: Vital Ingredients

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

By Raymond Lam

The regular use of anti-aging skin care products is becoming normal these days; which is not surprising because we are all living longer and fuller lives so why shouldn't we want to look younger? This is achieved in beauty products by promoting the growth of connective tissue using the protein collagen which is the most abundant in the skin of all animals; collagen is so abundant, it makes up about a quarter of the total protein content of structural protein found in skin. This category of skin products is in fact related to another group of everyday products that help reduce the signs of aging; this group is called antioxidants which are natural chemicals found in many foods and our body.

Although the benefits of vitamin C (an anti-oxidant) are well documented, it is still debated as to what our daily amount should be. Vitamin C formulated skin care treatments suffer with a particular problem of oxidizing on contact with the air which causes a problem for users and manufacturers.

Other skin care treatments which mimic the effects of vitamin C are being tried all the time which are hoped to be more stable in the atmosphere and also cheaper to produce. However, these anti-aging skin care treatments are not as effective vitamin C based products, although vitamin E and lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants and have similar effects.

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant and is found in human blood; it helps build resistance against infection like cancer for example. Another of these is lipoic acid which is found in every cell of our body to help generate energy for us to live; it is also able to help reduce and restore the skin's aging process.

Other compounds called phytochemicals have proved to be beneficial in the formulation of anti-ageing skin care products; they are removed from various plants. Another benefit of phytochemicals, like those of alpha-lipoic acid, is their ability to reduce the prevalence of certain cancers; these include:

*Cancer that attacks the Prostate

*Breast Cancer in Women (and occasionally men)

*Cancer of the Bowel

These are some of the most common (and increasingly so) cancers in the world today.

Surprisingly, the group of vitamins; B5, B6, and B12 have also shown that they can be used to help reduce the effects of aging. The use of anti-aging skin care products is a huge scientific field to research and has far greater potential than just producing goods that reduce the visible signs of age. Gradually, new discoveries will be made to advance our understanding of the aging process; each year, more is learned about this topic so reducing the effects of age on the body is just a matter of time.

Hopefully, these challenges will get resolved in due course and better and cheaper anti-ageing skin care products will be produced. At the moment though, science is still behind the field of natural anti-aging methods; man-made products may never replace those that are available naturally! Natural methods are known, but few people actually follow them; what proportion of the population actually eats healthily, takes plenty of exercise, drink sufficient water and obtain restful and regular sleep?

Use the Laws of Attraction to Live your Life to the Fullest

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

By Colin Joss

Following the law of attraction will help you succeed in getting the future you want. It is going to significantly impact your life even if you don't believe it in. Feeling this way is just allowing negative energy to shape what happens in your life. If you aren't happy with what has happened in the past then make a serious effort to change it. You will be much happier if you embrace the Law of Attraction. You can use it to succeed but first you need to be sure you fully understand what it has to offer you.

Too many of us simply aren't aware of all the wonderful opportunities that continue to come our way. Letting them slip through our fingers though means we didn't get a firm grip on them to use them effectively. Karma is a very powerful thing and it simply means what goes around comes around. Therefore you want to live your life in a way that shows you treat yourself and others with respect. The more control you recognize that you have over your own life the happier you will be.

You too can become more in control of the Karma that you will experience. If you have ever read a self help book or attended such a seminar then you have heard many of them already. The key aspect you need to take away from it all though is to visualize what you want to see happen to you. If you are honest with yourself about the direction that you want your life to take it is much easier. Too many people don't have a clue where they are headed though. It does take time to adjust your behaviors for this to take place. Yet in time it will just be a part of who you are. It is this positive energy about your life that is going to attract good luck your way.

When it comes to the Laws of Attraction, what you like is what you will attract. So if you focus on what you really want, you can make it so. This is going to allow you to venture on the path of life that you really want to have for yourself. There are several steps you will need to follow in order to make this happen:

1. Make the steps you need to take from here to reach your goal as clear as possible.

Knowing what you want is very important, but so is having a realistic plan for making it happen. Having a goal just isn't enough because it won't just happen for you. There has to be planning and you have to take steps to reach the smaller pieces of the goal. Sitting around wishing that the pieces would fall into place for you isn't enough to make it all happen. You have to be able to apply the energy you need in a positive light to make it all work out for you. The more you are able to focus clearly on what you want and how to get there, the more likely it is going to happen.

To create the life you want you must consciously focus your attention on what you want and then hold your attention on it.

2. You have to commit to being responsible for your own life in all aspects.

This may sound simple in theory but it may take you a while to achieve. Yet accepting complete responsibility for your life is going to open up many doors for you. Those that continue to see themselves as victims aren't going to be able to use the Laws of Attraction effectively. Too many people take credit when things are good in their live but then they blame other people or circumstances when they take a turn for the worst. If you have a positive outlook no matter what happens and you accept responsibility for it, you will be very successful.

In other words you will be in complete control and your life will feel richer. It will give you a great deal of self-confidence and help you take on the world.

3.Believe that you have the power to control your life

You don't need to know HOW it will work, you just have to believe you will get it. As the Bible says Faith Can Move Mountains.

Focus on the Positive belief that it will happen. Focusing on the How will only bury you under the negative energies of worry, over-planning and fear.

In the book called "The Attractor Factor" by Joe Vitale, he talks about listening to what your gut is saying to you. Too many people ignore those feelings and push them aside. Yet what it is telling you is often information that will inspire you. It can help you to find the positive energy that is in every situation. Think about how a mom is able to know when to worry about her child and when to let them go do something as she feels they are safe. Have that same trust in your own gut feelings.

4.Work on the broader picture

If you get too caught up in the small things, you will miss the big picture. This is going to result in you being more susceptible to negative energy seeping in. Do your best to stay focused on your goals. Have confidence in your abilities and strive to get rid of all the negative energy. If you have Faith that things are going to turn out the way you want them to then they will. You will find this outlook is going to be extremely important when you are using the Laws of Attraction.

5.Don't let negative energies like fear and worry distract you

It is very important to realize that negative energy is going to find its way into your life from time to time. The world isn't perfect and you can't control all of the things that come your way. The goal is to do your best to recognize those sources of negative energy and then to replace them with positive energy as much as possible. Be careful of the people you are around too. You want to have friends and family who have plenty of positive energy to share. This kind of support can definitely help you to get past times when you have negative energy to contend with.

6. Always know what you want.

How can you go after something when you aren't sure what you want? Having a clear view of what you want and where you are headed will help you to stay focused on reaching it. You can end up wasting a large amount of positive energy if you don't have yourself focused. Take the clearest and shortest route possible for achieving your goals. There will always be things in your life that work to get you off track, but giving yourself a check and reviewing your goals on a regular basis will ensure you are able to stay focused.

You need a final step to achieve your goal. As laborious as setting a goal and focusing on it with positive energy and being open to achieving your goal may seem, your goal is not just going to drop into your lap one morning. You need to stay focused. It is the easiest and most subtle thing in the world to get side tracked or de-focused by other less important things and events and energies. A dogged approach with you eye clearly on the goal is the final boost that will get you there. Creating a Focus Board that you look at every morning could help you stay focused. Organizations often do this by creating a Mission and Vision Statement. State your goal clearly at the top. Under it in smaller letters, list out the stepping stones you need to take to get you there. At the bottom state your goal in Bold. Cross out the stepping stones as you achieve each one. This will not only help you focus on your ultimate goal, but will also help you focus on the next intermediate goal you need to achieve en route to you final goal. As distant as your final goal may seem on some 'down' days, the crossed out stepping stones will help boost your morale and flood you with positive energy.

Another way of surrounding yourself with positive energy is to focus on the positive energies you have received or the small pebbles you have crossed the previous day en route to your next stepping stone. Sure some of the pebbles may have slipped away before you got to them. Don't focus on them - just acknowledge them and proceed.

Use this method of staying focused every day. It is going to be very valuable to you. Make sure it is in a place where you can't miss it so you will remember. You can move it later on after this practice has become a very integrated part of your daily routine.

At first it may be hard for you to remember to look at your focus board daily. However, in time it will become very routine for you. Use the Laws of Attraction to help you achieve all you want in your life. If you are willing to work hard to be positive, then you can get the right type of energy in our life to make it all happen.

Taking these steps will help you be the driver of your life. Soon these steps will become automatic. Focusing on your achievements will fill you with positive energy and will attract positive energy to you. Soon the whole process will change from ponderous and laborious to FUN which in turn will attract its own positive energy and get you there faster.

Weight Loss and Nutrition

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network kalynna

By Rebecca Vitali

When considering a change in diet you must consider getting your selections from the four food groups. To lose weight you will need to eat in the correct proportions. An average person will consume about 2000-2500 calories, give or take, depending on if you are a larger or smaller, man or woman. 50% of your calories should be from carbs, 30% will come from fats and 20% will be consumed as proteins.

Carbs are to be your major source of food. You need carbohydrates for energy. Stay away from simple sugars that break down rapidly and easily in your system. If you stick with complex carbs from grains and starches, like a baked potato, you will stay full longer. Complex carbs are healthy in moderation.

Fats have a bad rap. Fats are chemically on par with carbohydrates. They contain fatty acids that are essential to health. When you consume Proteins they are lysed (split) in order to create amino acids. The amino acids are then recombined to make up the proteins used in muscles and other parts of the body.

Meat is a valid and healthy source of protein for almost everyone. About 3 ounces per meal is about right for the average sized person. A cup of pasta is a good source of carbohydrates. Two cups of leafy green vegetables supply fiber, minerals and vitamins.

Anyone can make a basic balanced meal. It is easy to fix if you just remember the following. You can make it up simply from a serving of meat or if you are a vegetarian, other protein source. Then add a starchy carbohydrate such as pasta, rice, corn, potatoes, or some fruit. Do not over do it on the condiments, like butter, cheese, sauces and other sources of sugar or fat.

Fat comes in at a whopping nine calories per gram. This is double the amount of other energy sources. So if you are watching your weight, this is why you need to consider keeping foods high in fat down to moderate levels. It is of value to know that if you are watching your cholesterol levels, this is imperative.

Carbohydrates, on the other hand have just four calories per gram. Some of our favorites are fruits (strawberries, apples, pears), nuts (pistachios, macadamia, walnuts. Try to avoid fatty peanuts or cashews) and grains (they supply fiber and minerals).

The fat and sugar content in candy is why it is bad for you, if you are on a diet. If you want to consume then you must only eat very modest portions. I have a bag of individually wrapped snickers in my drawer and eat one, at the most two per day. Since candy is designed as high in fat and sugar, its biggest drawback is that it also is lower in helpful nutrients. So they provide enormous calories and fewer other nutrients.

Making a list of items you consume will show you the relative amounts of helpful nutrients - and how many calories each contains. Putting a little arithmetic into your diet plan will help you reduce the number you obsess over - your weight.

Stop doing 50 Pushups - You Need Resistance to Get Six Pack Abs

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

I'm beginning to get a real kick out of reading these articles. I'm itching to edit, but the more they make me smile, the more I force myself to hold off. oofa! kalynna

By Victor Lorentzo

A big mistake I see on a regular basis is people doing too many reps when they work on building six pack abs. A common misunderstanding is that the more pushups you do, the stronger your abs will get. This mistake is something we picked up at kids gym where all the six pack exercises we knew was crunches. We were thought that the more reps we did the stronger out six pack abs would be.

How many times have you ever seen people doing 50 reps when they are training bench press or working on their biceps? My guess is not many times. If you want to reach new levels in bench press you ad weight. If you kept on doing 60 pounds every time you did bench press you would never get anywhere. The same principles works when you exercise your six pack abs.

How many reps should you use when exercising your six pack abs? I use to aim for 12 and typically end up between 10 and 15. I use 3 reps on each exercise. I have talked to people that only use 8 reps per set, although these people often do 5 sets per exercise.

For increasing the resistance on your six packs abs exercises there are several methods you can use. If you use a declining bench when you do sit ups or crunches you will increase the resistance. You can also lift your feet of the ground or supplement the resistance by using a dumbbell or some weights on your chest.

It is a good strategy to combine a set of different six packs abs exercises in you workout schedule. Not only should you work your abdominal muscles. I would suggest implementing one exercise for your side muscles and one exercise for your lower back muscles. This will give you a leaner posture and also strengthen your abs as well. Also keep in mind that you have several muscles in your abdominal region that all need to be exercised.

A common belief is that your abdominal muscled can be exercised every day. This is simply not the truth. Like every other muscle area of your body the abdominal muscles needs time to rest and to grow. We now know that when you work out your legs or other muscle groups we destroy that muscle group. The body then uses proteins to rebuild the muscles and make them stronger so that they are more fitted to handle a similar situation at a later time. This process takes days. If you work out your abs every day you will only end up destroying them. Two times a week is more than enough abdominal workout time.

We have now gone through the importance of implementing resistance in our abdominal workout routine. We have also seen that we only need to exercise our abs twice a week to get the results we want. More important than abdominal exercises is having a good diet and a good cardio exercise routine. If your six pack abs is hidden behind a layer of fat it does not help how strong and fit they are. Exercise your entire body on a regular basis and implement as much healthy and protein rich food in your diet as possible to get the results you want.

The Best Tips For Burning Your Calories Has Been Revealed!

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

I have received another article I was beginning to post and like yesterday, decided that it might be a good idea to take another look. Well, I'm shaking my head because once again the grammar and spelling are horrible. I'm beginning to understand that the trouble with the internet is that anyone can publish anything pretending to be an expert. I actually began to edit this article and decided it would be more fun to leave it alone and let you comment. ~kalynna

By Anagha

Most people are gaining weight and growing fat these days because the present generation is bent more on consuming junk rather than healthy food. They don't know how to reduce their fat even though they want to do so.

The main thing is to search for a reason why it happened. The reason for this is that, the number of calories that are consumed is greater in number than what has been burnt by you. So, the key lies in the fact of tuning this the other way round. That is, to increase the number of calories burnt than has been consumed.

1. Muscle building - The formula behind this tip is, the more the muscles you have the more calories you burn. Involving yourself in many exercises would really help you to build your muscle mass. But, among all the exercises weight lifting is the best exercise to lose weight. No doubt at all.

2. Have less food but have it frequently - You may find this tip to be funny but, it is true and has been approved by many nutrition experts. According to them, people having five healthy meals a day will burn calories soon than people having three meals a day. This is because, as and when you have food your digestive system will not only burn food it will also burn a certain amount of calories.

3. Cardio Workout - Exercises helps you to lose your weight no doubt but, particularly when you look into cardio workout you will be really able to lose weight and attain the shape that you are always looking for.

4. Diet is of no use - When you have a plan to lose your weight and burn calories then diet is of no use. Some people have a notion lingering in their mind that, anyone who wants to lose their weight either have to go for dieting or for supplementary. Basically, the diet and supplement industry is surviving by these pre occupied thoughts of the people. The truth behind these supplements is, yes supplements do help one to lose weight but, it will be a short term solution. Once you stop taking these supplements you will regain the weight what you had lost in the process and there are even chances of gaining double the weight what you had lost before.

5. Foods that help burn fat has to be consumed - Last but not least, consume food that is helpful in reducing the amount of fat contained in your body, such as foods that are rich in protein (important for building muscles), vitamin C and fiber. Avoid consuming foods that contains more fat like pastries, cookies, ice cream and many others.

These are few tips, which if sincerely followed can greatly help you to burn calories faster. This will surely give you the perfect shape you have always been craving for. Not to forget, the attention and confidence that will soon become a part of your impressive personality.

End Obesity Use a Weight Loss Goal

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

I must admit that I don't always read word for word the posts I put up from other author's articles. I skim through them to see if they're pertinent to my viewers and post them or not. I can't begin to tell you how many people spell the word losing wrong. They talk about losing weight and losing body fat and spell losing "loosing" every time. How can you believe they know how to help you loose weight if they can't spell losing? It really annoys me. Anyway, I've fixed it in this article. If I missed one, I apologize. kalynna

By C S Liner

Many people think that Losing Weight is a simple fact of getting a diet and not eating very much. This could not be any further from the truth the fact is loosing weight by dieting just does not work. The reason is your body stores fat for times of trouble.

Dieting will cause your body to store fat for times of need which is exactly why you started your diet in the first place. Also a sure way to fail in a new weight loss regime is to have a shotgun approach.

Many experts trumpet Losing Weight with Targeted Goals and developing a systematic approach to your weight loss. By systematic we mean getting a system and sticking to it. When combined with targeted goals and a systematic approach your weight will fall off.

Setting of Goals is simple to say but you need to be dedicated and focused to make this goal setting work and succeed. Also if you start with huge goals you will never reach them start with a small goal and work your way up. This type of goal setting could be called the dynamic method.

Firstly if you are weak willed and need some help to get up in the morning get yourself a dog. A dog will wait for you every morning and will give you a guilty look if you forget. Many times you may not want to go because its to cold or 2 wet but if you have a pet then, you have motivation to go.

After consulting your doctor you now have your first target for Losing Weight, hopefully a realistic and achievable goal. For the sake of argument lets say your doctor has said 5% in a month should be your target. You now need to get yourself a plan.

Start a program by starting of small immediately cut the processed foods from your diet, specifically the foods high in fat and cholesterol this in itself will help you feel better almost straight away. Next start an exercise program, just a simple stroll will help you immediately revitalize your life.

Start to exercise with a brisk stroll, and each day walk that little bit extra until you get to the point that you have used your available spare time. If possible instead of driving to the supermarket why not ride. Using your push bike for errands will start to grow on you.

Never Diet alone always make your Weight Loss Goal a combination of diet and exercise. By diet we don't mean a reduction if food we mean a change of food. The quality of the food or the amount of fat in the food makes a huge difference to any weight loss goals.

Are All Electronic Muscle Stimulator Devices the Same?

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network.

I've never believed these gizmos work but there may be a purpose to using them in a medicinal way for rehabilitation and pain management. Interesting...kalynna

By Amy Nutt

Many wonder what the difference is between the different types of electronic Muscle Stimulators. It is easy to say that there is a difference between the different devices because of their different names, but exactly what the differences are need to be defined. The two types of EMS devices are TENS and Russian Muscle Stimulation. Different devices can do different things such as stimulate sensory nerve endings rather than just muscles.

EMS

Electronic Muscle Stimulation uses a relatively low voltage that targets motor nerves in order to stimulate them. What this does is cause a contraction of the muscle. The muscle then relaxes between shocks and then contracts again when the shock occurs. This constant contracting and relaxing has been used as an effective method to treat various vascular and muscoskeletal conditions. This keeps circulation going and better circulation means oxygen and nutrients can be carried to the muscles much easier.

TENS

This device is also a type of Electronic Muscle Stimulator, but it behaves in a different manner than the standard EMS device. This one is used to stimulate sensory nerve endings in order to control pain. The pain signals are blocked and endorphin production is stimulated. We have all probably heard at one time or another that endorphins block pain. They are kind of like the body's natural morphine in painful situations. These systems are not found on the open market because they are primarily used by physicians to treat a plethora of problems. Some of those issues involve:

Preventing atrophy of the muscles when they have not been used in a while due to paralysis, being bedridden, or due to severe injury.

Strengthening the nerves in certain groups of muscles

Muscle spasm and muscle pain reduction

These devices have been successfully used within the medical community for quite some time. Electrodes connected to adhesive pads are stuck to the skin and the electric pulses are sent through the skin to the muscles via these pads. This makes TENS very effective in pain relief because of the production of endorphins. TENS has also been used in the treatment of arthritis, back pain, labor pain, shingles, sciatica, postoperative pain, and cancer pain.

Russian Muscle Stimulation

The Russian Muscle Stimulation device is also an EMS used for nerve stimulation. The electric currents that result are stronger and they penetrate deeper into the muscles. Sometimes the contractions of the muscles and nerves can be quite painful because they are more complex than with other EMS devices. This EMS is definitely one that should only be used by medical professionals such as a doctor or a physiotherapist.

Overall benefits

When used with exercise, EMS devices can be quite helpful. For those simply wanting to use them to get those six-pack abs, the EMS device should be used in combination with exercise. However, a device such as the Russian Muscle Stimulator should not be used for toning of the body. This is a much more intense device that needs to be used under the supervision of a doctor. But when using an EMS during exercise, the nerves and muscles will recover faster and the growth of the muscles as well as their endurance and strength do improve when used before and after exercise. There are also areas of the body that may not be reached through exercise and an EMS device can stimulate those areas, which helps promote overall physical health. However, the EMS device can't produce a rock solid body alone, but what it can do is act as a great companion to other effective lifestyle changes.

Use the Law of Attraction to get what you Want

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

If you've been living under a rock and not heard of the "Law of Attraction" then it's time you get in the game. kalynna

By Colin Joss

Life is going to take shape for each of us whether we control it or not. You can be passive and just take whatever comes your way. You can also be assertive and do your part to bring to it what you want. The Law of Attraction is all around us and it is up to each of us how we use it.

The more positive energy that we can bring into our own life the better off we will be. This involves accepting responsibility for what happens to you as well as feeling like you are in control of your future. Why waste your energy on negative aspects that aren't going to serve you any benefit? Don't sit back and let things happen to you, and then complain that you aren't happy with the outcome.

One of the most important issues to content with if you are going to benefit from the Law of Attraction is to accept responsibility. Sure, you may be a responsible person in your daily tasks but do you accept full responsibility for what takes place in your life? If you don't then you really need to work hard to make that a part of who you are. This is the first step to allowing many things to fall into place for you in a very positive way.

Next you will have to decide on what goals you want to achieve in your life. Then put a plan of action into place that will allow you to reach it. Some goals are going to take a very long time to reach and that is okay. Just make sure you have broken it down into smaller steps. This will help you to stay focused and at the same time it will allow you to see how successful you are becoming with the Law of Attraction on your side. The benefits from positive energy are just phenomenal.

You will also have to accept that the things going on in your life today as well as in the past were the result of your energy. You may not like many of those outcomes but you can turn all of that around. Understand that you have a bright future to look forward to. Make sure you write down your goals so that you can focus on them each day. Write down the entire goal and then list the steps that are going to get you there. Make sure you allocate a certain amount of time to accomplish each one of these steps to reaching the overall goals as well.

The more you effectively practice the Law of Attraction in your life, the more you will find good things coming your way. You will be able to attract other people that radiate the same types of positive energy that you do. Instead of being jealous of someone you observe as being successful and happy, strive to make that take place for you as well. There is no such thing as just good luck determining how a person will spend their life. Behind the scenes there is going to be plenty of work and dedication that took place to make it happen.

Not everyone calls it the Law of Attraction and that is fine. You can call it anything you really want to as long as you understand it. Realize the potential if what you can bring to your life just by changing your own behaviors. Positive energy is one of the most effective changes you can make to your life in order to really be happy and successful.

Homeschools Exposed

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network.

Many parents choose to home school their children. Major studies have touted that home schooled kids often perform better on standardized college entrance tests. If you home school, make sure to include a physical fitness component. Martial arts like tae kwon do are a perfect compliment to home schooling. Tae kwon do emphasizes respect, self esteem and confidence.

When most people think of home schools, they imagine children who are socially incompetent and aren't allowed to experience great opportunities for learning. Some people even think that parents who decide to home school are strange radicals.

Ironically, most parents who set up home schools have college degrees. They are just trying to give their child a better education. A good home schooling program will shatter those social stereotypes.

I reached out and found other family home schools in my area. After that, we decided to create a co-op that allows about ten children schooled at home to meet together and learn.

I also am a fan of club athletic teams and music lessons. My children are definitely well-rounded and socially capable.

There are a lot of techniques to choose from when starting a home school. Some of them cover Christian, eclectic, classical, natural, and theme-based learning. It would be wise to research all these different methods to get an idea of what's best for you and your children.

When I did my research, I found that a lot of the methods and available resources are duplicates of the materials that public schools use.

Be aware of the problems that could arise in purchasing materials that focus on outcome or performance-based education. These types of materials will squash free and creative thinking.

Families that are just starting home schools have a great task ahead of them to determine which method is best and addresses the needs of each of their children. Sometimes multiple methods are chosen in a family.

It's also important to realize that each child has their own way of learning. That's one of the marvelous things about home schools. Parents can enhance their children's strengths and strategically transform weaknesses into strengths.

Families who are just starting to learn about home schools and how to run their own should stay up-to-date on all the latest information and resources. There are plenty of good publications that can help you with home schooling issues and ideas.

On top of all this, you can find online resources, courses, and tutors. All of which can help you enhance your curriculum. Home schools can offer the best methods of addressing a child's needs.

8 Absolutely Vital Steps to Healthy Travel Abroad

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

by Kalynn Amadio

Traveling abroad is exciting and fun. Exotic destinations could mean more risk for health problems and more difficulty acquiring good medical care.

Plan your travel health as carefully as your travel itinerary with the Fox News Channel's Dr. Isadore Rosenfeld suggested 8 Tips for Travel that will ensure a safe, happy and healthy vacation.

1. Get updated vaccinations.

Current immunizations recommended for every country are available from the CDC website at www.cdc.gov/travel. The CDC site has great information on the various ways to guard your health while traveling abroad.

2. Do not brush your teeth with tap water.

Local water sometimes carries parasites and bacteria that can make a non-local ill. For that reason, don't brush with tap water use bottled water instead. In lieu of bottled water, boiling local tap water for a at least 1 minute will kill any diseases that could cause illness.

3. Try and peel vegetables and fruits before eating them.

Like local water, food can also carry disease for the traveler. The CDC recommends not eating food purchased from street vendors. Dr. Rosenfeld suggests peeling fresh fruits and vegetables, not eating the raw skin. Make sure any food you eat is fully cooked.

4. Take extra medication with you.

There is nothing worse than running out of needed medication while on vacation. Prepare for the unexpected by taking more medication with you than the number of days you actually expect to travel. Delays and the unexpected can happen, so be prepared.

5. Take a first aid kit.

Make your own first aid kit and keep it with you on your travels. Be sure to include pain and anti-inflammatory medication, topical antibiotic cream and antihistamine and/or decongestant. You should also consider anti-malaria meds if your destination warrants. Also take anti-motion medication, antacids, mild laxative and anti-diarrheal medication. If you like throat lozenges bring them. Anti-fungal and 1% hydro cortisone creams are also a good idea. The usual cadre of band aids, moleskin for blisters and alcohol pads and latex gloves to treat others are important.

6. Invest in travel insurance.

Canceling an anticipated trip is disappointing to say the least. Don't let that disappointment become a financial problem as well. Purchase travel insurance to cover the unexpected, especially for an expensive trip.

7. Avoid swimming in ponds or lakes.

Parasitic and bacterial diseases can exist in lakes and ponds as they can in local drinking water. Avoid swimming in still bodies of water. Swimming in the ocean or in chlorinated swimming pools is okay. But swimming in a local river should be avoided.

8. Be mosquito aware.

Bring insect repellent including DEET of 20-50% for adults and children over 2 months. Wear long sleeved shirts and pants and spray them as well. Wear sunscreen first then apply the repellent and wash off again before going to bed. These precautions will help fight off mosquitoes, ticks and fleas. Mosquitoes transmitting malaria are most active at dusk and dawn while daytime mosquitoes tend to transmit dengue fever.

Should a serious illness or injury occur to you or a traveling partner, there are several places you can seek help. One such organization is MEDEX, www.medexassist.com. The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and The International Society of Travel Medicine are two more organizations that offer different areas of help. Check their websites for more information before leaving.

Travel healthy by being prepared. Take pleasure in knowing you are ready for the unexpected which of course means the unexpected can't happen.

Belt Rank System

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

Did you know that in the beginning, when a tae kwon do student received a belt it was white. That was the only color. Ever.

A serious student trained for years.

Because a martial arts belt is never washed, the years of wear included the grime, sweat and even blood that permeated that white belt until eventually it became...Black.

Today, we use belt colors to distinguish the process of learning that would take the student of old from novice to expert. Every school that uses a relatively new colored belt system applies the same principal of starting with white and earning progressively darker belts until the student is ready to test to earn a black belt.

Is black belt the end of the road? Click the title of this article to find out more.

Life Mapping: A Vision of Success

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

By Kim and Charles Petty

Success is more than economic gains, titles, and degrees. Planning for success is about mapping out all the aspects of your life. Similar to a map, you need to define the following details: origin, destination, vehicle, backpack, landmarks, and route.

Origin: Who you are

A map has a starting point. Your origin is who you are right now. Most people when asked to introduce themselves would say, "Hi, I'm Jean and I am a 17-year old, senior high school student." It does not tell you about who Jean is; it only tells you her present preoccupation. To gain insights about yourself, you need to look closely at your beliefs, values, and principles aside from your economic, professional, cultural, and civil status. Moreover, you can also reflect on your experiences to give you insights on your good and not-so-good traits, skills, knowledge, strengths, and weaknesses. Upon introspection, Jean realized that she was highly motivated, generous, service-oriented, but impatient. Her inclination was in the biological-medical field. Furthermore, she believed that life must serve a purpose, and that wars were destructive to human dignity.

Destination: A vision of who you want to be

"Who do want to be?" this is your vision. Now it is important that you know yourself so that you would have a clearer idea of who you want to be; and the things you want to change whether they are attitudes, habits, or points of view. If you hardly know yourself, then your vision and targets for the future would also be unclear. Your destination should cover all the aspects of your being: the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. Continuing Jean's story, after she defined her beliefs, values, and principles in life, she decided that she wanted to have a life dedicated in serving her fellowmen.

Vehicle: Your Mission

A vehicle is the means by which you can reach your destination. It can be analogized to your mission or vocation in life. To a great extent, your mission would depend on what you know about yourself. Bases on Jean's self-assessment, she decided that she was suited to become a doctor, and that she wanted to become one. Her chosen vocation was a medical doctor. Describing her vision-mission fully: it was to live a life dedicated to serving her fellowmen as a doctor in conflict-areas.

Travel Bag: Your knowledge, skills, and attitude

Food, drinks, medicines, and other traveling necessities are contained in a bag. Applying this concept to your life map, you also bring with you certain knowledge, skills, and attitudes. These determine your competence and help you in attaining your vision. Given such, there is a need for you to assess what knowledge, skills, and attitudes you have at present and what you need to gain along the way. This two-fold assessment will give you insights on your landmarks or measures of success. Jean realized that she needed to gain professional knowledge and skills on medicine so that she could become a doctor. She knew that she was a bit impatient with people so she realized that this was something she wanted to change.

Landmarks and Route: S.M.A.R.T. objectives

Landmarks confirm if you are on the right track while the route determines the travel time. Thus, in planning out your life, you also need to have landmarks and a route. These landmarks are your measures of success. These measures must be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bound. Thus you cannot set two major landmarks such as earning a master's degree and a doctorate degree within a period of three years, since the minimum number of years to complete a master's degree is two years. Going back to Jean as an example, she identified the following landmarks in her life map: completing a bachelor's degree in biology by the age of 21; completing medicine by the age of 27; earning her specialization in infectious diseases by the age of 30; getting deployed in local public hospitals of their town by the age of 32; and serving as doctor in war-torn areas by the age of 35.

Anticipate Turns, Detours, and Potholes

The purpose of your life map is to minimize hasty and spur-of-the-moment decisions that can make you lose your way. But oftentimes our plans are modified along the way due to some inconveniences, delays, and other situations beyond our control. Like in any path, there are turns, detours, and potholes thus; we must anticipate them and adjust accordingly.

7 Steps to a Healthy Brain

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

by kalynna

We are bombarded with messages about physical fitness and exercise, but how often do you actively exercise your brain?

Preoccupation with general wellness should always include an approach to keeping a healthy brain. When you begin to forget things, the natural fear is that you could be developing Alzheimer's Disease. The reality is that most memory loss is not caused by Alzheimer's but by other causes like the medication you take, or not getting enough rest.

Dr. Isadore Rosenfeld of Fox News Channel has created a list of the 7 steps to a healthy brain that we all need to incorporate into our lifestyle.

1. Keep blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels in the "normal" range.

Normal blood pressure values fall into the following categories:
Less than 120 systolic and less than 80 diastolic. This would typically be phrased as 120/80.

Systolic pressure is defined as the peak pressure in the arteries. Diastolic pressure is the lowest pressure in the arteries. These pressures are never static but constantly changing from heart beat to heart beat through various activities during the day.

2. Get enough sleep.

Numerous studies have been conducted on the affects of sleep deprivation. Not getting enough sleep can slow the healing of wounds because it affects the immune system.

A 2007 study found that working memory can be drastically affected by lack of sleep over a constant period. Working memory keeps information active for more processing and supports functions like decision making and reasoning.

3. Have a healthy breakfast each morning and add more Omega-3 and Omega-6 to your diet.

Both are important to brain function and not present enough in the average diet. In fact a study on Parkinson's Disease showed that high doses of Omega-3 created a protective effect in the same way it did for Alzheimer's and is now the basis of additional study for prevention of Parkinson's.

4. East lots of fruits and vegetables.

Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals and fiber essential to your health. People who consume generous quantities reduce the risk of stroke, cardiovascular disease and certain cancers.

5. Keep socially active. Spend time doing puzzles like sudoku and crosswords; read a newspaper, magazine or book daily.

The British Association Festival of Science reported that seniors who engaged in crosswords and sukodu puzzles could help keep the brain nearly 14 years younger.

By reading new concepts and ideas we learn and our brains start to make connections and see these concepts in everyday life stimulating brain health.

6. Avoid drinking too much alcohol.

Excessive alcohol consumption affects abstract thinking, concept shifting and difficult memory tasks as evidenced by alcoholics in treatment, even though their overall IQ does not decrease. Even moderate alcohol consumption could shrink the brain which impairs cognitive functions.

7. Engage in regular physical exercise at least 30 minutes a day.

Physical exercise contributes to mental alertness, especially in those who are above 60 years old, by stimulating the growth of new brain cells and blood vessels connected to the brain.

The Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Human Services indicate that at least 30 minutes of daily physical activity is required to reduce the risk of chronic diseases in adulthood.

As the medical community increases our ability to live longer we will have to give more emphasis to brain health and exercise. We need to maintain our brains just as much as our bodies to enjoy a healthy and happy life.

MOTIVATION, THE HEART OF SELF IMPROVEMENT

Learn more ways to self improvement and self esteem with martial arts motivation techniques. Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

By Kim and Charles Petty

Pain may sometimes be the reason why people change. Getting flunked grades make us realize that we need to study. Debts remind us of our inability to look for a source of income. Being humiliated gives us the 'push' to speak up and fight for ourselves to save our face from the next embarrassments. It may be a bitter experience, a friend's tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring book that will help us get up and get just the right amount of motivation we need in order to improve ourselves.

With the countless negativities the world brings about, how do we keep motivated? Try on the tips I prepared from A to Z

A - Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

B - Believe in your self, and in what you can do.

C - Consider things on every angle and aspect. Motivation comes from determination. To be able to understand life, you should feel the sun from both sides.

D - Don't give up and don't give in. Thomas Edison failed once, twice, more than thrice before he came up with his invention and perfected the incandescent light bulb. Make motivation as your steering wheel.

E - Enjoy. Work as if you don't need money. Dance as if nobody's watching. Love as if you never cried. Learn as if you'll live forever. Motivation takes place when people are happy.

F - Family and Friends - are life's greatest 'F' treasures. Don't loose sight of them.

G - Give more than what is enough. Where does motivation and self improvement take place at work? At home? At school? When you exert extra effort in doing things.

H - Hang on to your dreams. They may dangle in there for a moment, but these little stars will be your driving force.

I - Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don't let other people to get the best of you. Stay out of toxic people - the kind of friends who hates to hear about your success.

J - Just be yourself. The key to success is to be yourself. And the key to failure is to try to please everyone.

K - keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. When a person is motivated, eventually he sees a harsh life finally clearing out, paving the way to self improvement. L - Learn to love your self. Now isn't that easy?

M - Make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put into work clothes.

N - Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game.

O - Open your eyes. People should learn the horse attitude and horse sense. They see things in 2 ways - how they want things to be, and how they should be.

P - Practice makes perfect. Practice is about motivation. It lets us learn repertoire and ways on how can we recover from our mistakes.

Q - Quitters never win. And winners never quit. So, choose your fate - are you going to be a quitter? Or a winner?

R - Ready yourself. Motivation is also about preparation. We must hear the little voice within us telling us to get started before others will get on their feet and try to push us around. Remember, it wasn't raining when Noah build the ark.

S - Stop procrastinating.

T - Take control of your life. Discipline or self control jives synonymously with motivation. Both are key factors in self improvement.

U - Understand others. If you know very well how to talk, you should also learn how to listen. Yearn to understand first, and to be understood the second.

V - Visualize it. Motivation without vision is like a boat on a dry land.

W - Want it more than anything. Dreaming means believing. And to believe is something that is rooted out from the roots of motivation and self improvement.

X - X Factor is what will make you different from the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put on "extras" on your life like extra time for family, extra help at work, extra care for friends, and so on.

Y - You are unique. No one in this world looks, acts, or talks like you. Value your life and existence, because you're just going to spend it once.

Z - Zero in on your dreams and go for it!!!

The Pitfalls in Law of Attraction

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

By Colin Joss

Genevieve Behrend in her book Your Invisible Power wrote, "When your understanding grasps the power to visualize your heart's desires and holds it with your will, it attracts to you all things requisite to the fulfillment of that picture by the harmonious vibration of the Law of Attraction."

Another valid point that she makes is that when it comes to the Law of Attraction you are going to reap what you sow. This means if you work to have positive energy in your life that is what you will attract. However, if you allow negative energy to continue to be all around you then that is the type of things that you will attract your direction.

Some people find that the Law of Attraction is to difficult to control so the give up right away. They would rather let things continue to just happen to them than to work for what they really want to see take place. Yet for those that are dedicated to sticking with it, they can really make it work for them. They can find those positive forces of energy out there that will bring good things their way. In order to do this though you have to be able to avoid some of the most common pitfalls.

1. Failing to set your goals.

This needs to be very precise and not just vague. While your goals will likely change as your life changes you are going to always need to have established goals. Change them though based on what is going on in your life and where you want to be.

A child would wish for a big car, a nice house - all the tangibles they can see with the 'happy' people around them.

A teenager would wish for lots of money to do all the things they want and of course a great looking person of the opposite sex to do those things with

Young adults may not be too interested in a long term career yet. They do search for jobs that can help them to pay the bills and have some fun though.

As a person moves into middle age they focus on being content and on enjoying what they have.

Too many people will become overwhelmed by what has to take place in order for them to reach a certain goal. That can result in negative energy surrounding them as they are afraid of failing. Yet once you start to write down the smaller pieces you have to accomplish it does get easier, and you will find more positive energy coming your way.

2. How are you going to reach your goal?

3. Failure to focus on your goals.

Just as you need to really evaluate your overall goal, you need to evaluate the road you are taking to get there. Think of it as you would a road trip somewhere. If your final destination changes then you are going to need to take another exit so you end up there.

3. Are you focusing enough on your goal?

It can be very easy to get off course and to stop thinking about your goal when life throws in some unexpected curves. It is important to do all you can get yourself back into the routine of reaching for that goal. You may not be able to do so for a while depending on the situation. Yet knowing you can easily reach out there for it is important and needs to be a priority in your life.

It can be very difficult at this time to stay focused on that goal, but do all you can to keep it in the front of your mind. You don't want to lose track of it or you will never be about to obtain it.

Keep in mind that everyone around you will be generating their own types of energy as well. It may be positive or it may be negative. You can't control what they are feeling in their heart or their mind, but you can work to control your own. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to distance yourself from those that always seem to have a negative energy around them.

Our energies, positive or negative are controlled by our 'well-being' It is very difficult if not impossible to remain positive and radiate positive energies when things are falling around you or when you are surrounded by a pool of negative energies. Just as you are radiating energies that are attracting others of similar energy, others around you are also radiating energies, energies that could be stronger than yours.

5.Man is not an island

We aren't on this world by ourselves and that means our lives are going to cross paths with many different people out there. We have to be ready for those that display negative energy. We can't let them stand in the way of our goals we have set for ourselves. You will really have to be careful of this as many of us do have friends, co-workers, and family members that always seem to circulate negative energy.

In many ways you can compare this part of your life to that of a puzzle. There are many pieces that fit together but you have to determine how it works. You have to visualize the overall picture and then work to make it all fit together like you want it to. Where it gets tricky though is that you may have the picture for the completely look of the puzzle, but not all of the pieces to complete it yet. Don't let this be a reason to through the pieces of it that you do have into the trash though.

Even if you can't clearly see how to achieve your goal right now you should continue to devise a plan. Visualize achieving that goal and play around with feasible ideas to help you get there. You also need to be aware that what the finished picture of that is going to continue evolving and changing as time goes by.

What this finished puzzle looks like for you though is really going to depend on your energy. If it is positive then it will likely look better than what you earlier imagined. If you see faded areas then you need to work harder to be able to get that very vivid image to become reality.

Since you often won't have all of the pieces to the complete puzzle, Faith has to be present for the Law of Attraction to really work. It is unrealistic to believe that you are going to have all the pieces you need to move forward. This is a very common pitfall that too many people just can't seem to get past. They don't want to believe in something that is still in an abstract format. You will have to decide if you are willing to be focused enough to let your Faith help you go get past it.

Winston Churchill said it the best when he wrote that all of us will find many wonderful opportunities in our lives. However, they will stumble over it and not realize it for what it is. So are you going to be one that gets up and walks away or that takes the time to really look at what is right in front of you?

Such is life. Depending on the energies we radiate we will attract people and circumstances. Depending on the surroundings in which we find ourselves, various opportunities will present themselves. It is then left to us to pick and choose our opportunities and to make the most of them. The journey of life will not take place with us standing on the starting block and focusing on the goal. We have to take that first step and the second step and then pick up momentum or else we will remain on the starting block and life will pass us by. We cannot stand on the shore and look for all the hidden rocks in the sea of life, and try and chart our course to our goal without taking the first step. The hidden rocks will keep shifting with the shifting sands.

We've just got to dive into life, come up every so often to sight our goal. Every so often we've also got to dive under the waves to sight the rocks and steer a course round them.

None of this can be accomplished with out dedication, motivation, and some risk though. As Joan Curcio puts it, you must jump right in there and see what it is all about. If you are too afraid to get your hands dirty or to fail then you are never going to be able to reach those stars you desperately want to touch.

Why Lactose-Free Milk Should Always Be Avoided

Honest Mind, Loving Heart, Strength in Body! The Martial Arts way of Life at The Taekwondo Network

My husband drinks lactose free milk every day. In fact we buy the Lactaid brand mentioned in this article by Russell Eaton. kalynna

By Russell Eaton

Lactose is present in all kinds of animal milks. Goat milk, for example, has about 5 to 10% more lactose than cow's milk. In the past it was thought that only a minority of people suffered from lactose intolerance, but the latest research is dispelling this myth. The reality is that virtually all people are lactose intolerant - it's just a matter of degree.

With lactose intolerance the body cannot digest lactose properly, causing varying degrees of nausea, cramps, gas, bloating and diarrhea. Typically, this happens about 30 minutes to 2 hours after milk consumption.

The severity of symptoms varies depending on the amount of lactose each individual consumes or can tolerate. Lactose intolerance usually develops over time, getting worse as you get older, with men and women suffering equally.

Lactose is the main sugar in milk. When it is consumed it gets broken down by lactase bacteria into glucose and galactose. But if, like most people, you don't have enough lactase you will not be able to break the lactose down and this then causes the symptoms of lactose intolerance.

Most human babies have enough lactase to breakdown and use the lactose in human milk. But within one or two years of life the baby gradually loses the capacity to produce lactase and cope with lactose.

For example, in the USA the medical profession regards over 50 million people as being clinically lactose-intolerant. Some racial and ethnic populations are more widely affected than others. As many as 75 percent of African-Americans and American-Indians (and 90 percent of Asian-Americans) are said to be lactose-intolerant. The condition is known to be least common among people of northern European descent.

Even those who do not think they are prone to lactose intolerant will suffer from the condition whenever dairy or goat milk is consumed. But the effects for such people may be mild and hardly noticeable. Typically, slight feelings of indigestion or bloating will be associated with a rushed meal or poor food, rather than with lactose intolerance.

There are many studies showing how lactose intolerance causes human illness (too many to list here). A quick search on Internet will reveal lots of studies into the subject.

Government dietary guidelines for people wanting to avoid lactose in milk recommend eating other calcium-containing foods like fish, broccoli and fortified orange juice. But this is poor advice because what people need is information on milk alternatives.

You may, of course, consume 'lactose reduced' or 'lactose free' milk. For example in North America you can buy 'Lactaid' which is a brand of lactose-free milk. The drawback is that lactose-free milks are in general not so widely available, and are usually more expensive.

However, by far the biggest drawback is that virtually all lactose-free milk is ultra-pasteurized (also known as 'Long Life' or UHT milk). Just about all the research is showing that UHT milk is significantly worse for health compared to regular pasteurized milk. For example, there is overwhelming evidence showing that UHT milk may be the biggest dietary cause of a variety of brain diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntingdon's and others.

What then is the best way to avoid lactose in milk? There is a simple solution: switch to milk made from nuts, seeds, or soybeans. These non-dairy milks offer a wonderful variety of delicious flavors and they are full of healthy nutrients.

Understanding the Laws of Attraction and How To Use Them

Laws of attraction govern the law of life. They are referred to by some as 'The Golden Rule and to those who are resigned to their fate as 'Karma' . People often use phrases like "you get what you give"; "what goes around, comes around"; "do unto others" and a host of others to express their interpretation of Life and the Laws of Attraction The Law of Attraction as defined by the New Age Gurus would go something like 'the way by which you attract into your life that anything in line with your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and attitudes.'

More simply put, the Law of Attraction is anything to which you are attracted or drawn, anything to which you feel a kinship, be it a person, place, animal or thing. Experience teaches us that this would depend on our age and stage in life, our state of being, the silver spoons and blows that life has dealt us. In short there are so many variables that it is practically impossible to put down a Law of Attraction. How often have we sat in the doctor's office or on a bus and simply felt either attracted to or repelled by a particular person. This is no positive or negative reflection on either you or the other person. It simply means that the person's energies are vibrating on the same or different frequencies from the other person. By the same token when you are cheery, the day turns cheery and gay and you seem to attract happy people to you. However on your gloomy days the opposite happens just as easily. It is also to be remembered that the Laws of Attraction need not always be positive and 'for you'. They could just as easily work against you. This is brought to life in the form of relationships that go sour, actions that hurt us and others, in all the things that have gone wrong in our lives because of choices we have made.

Regardless of what is going on around you though you need to try to always remain positive. You need to get the best energy from the Laws of Attraction that you possibly can. Of course you can't change how other people are or what they do. This is why you may be dealt some cards that include relationships that don't last, hurt feelings, and things in your life that aren't perfect.

Given below are some guidelines to experiencing a Positive Law of Attraction:

If you want to truly benefit from the Law of Attraction, here are some great tips to follow. Be honest with yourself about your own feelings in your heart and your thoughts in your mind. Think about your future and how you want to feel as well as what you want to accomplish. Pay attention to those feelings that leave you feeling good as well as those that don't. You want to make sure you are really focusing on the positive and doing your best to push the negative out of your mind and body.

Appreciation for what you already have are positive feelings that will open your heart and creates space for more. These positive feelings will make you more receptive to experiencing a positive Law of Attraction.

Think about the true desires you have in your life right now. This way you can use it to drive you to achieve your goals. When you focus only on what you need it can allow surges of negative energy to consume you. Do your best to be passionate and to celebrate your small successes on the way to your ultimate goals.

Life is going to bring many wonderful opportunities to your door step, and you need to take advantage of them in order to reach the goals you have set for yourself. It is going to be amazing when you realize who some things you didn't give too much thought before are going to be connected on that path to reach your goals.

Act on opportunities that crop up as you experience the law of attraction. Remember that these are stepping-stones to achieving your goals. Seemingly unrelated and inconsequential encounters can have a great significance as you pursue your dreams. Engaging the law of attraction calls for persistence and focus on your goal. In today's world of instant gratification and microwave popcorn, we need to focus on Persistence while we remember that which comes easiest or fastest is often not the best. Remember "Where there's vision, there's a way."

Last but not least, love yourself first and through that you will love and value yourself and others. This will make your goals more achievable and your success more effortless. Love is a strong vibration that heals. It is your best way to harness the law of attraction in your favor.

I've been having time management issues lately. There's not enough of it! I've gotten into a bad habit of staying up late working on my website. I think I could spend 16 hours a day on it because I enjoy it so much. But, I am losing sleep and not getting the laundry done and really not feeling as good physically as I should.

Okay, so I got a little obsessed, but I'm working on it.

It is actually fairly commonplace for people to become overwhelmed by everything that they have to accomplish in a day, especially when they are lacking in the necessary time management strategies. Are you feeling overwhelmed by everything that you set out to accomplish in a day? People who are overwhelmed accomplish far less than those who are confident about their workload.

So if you are feeling overwhelmed by what is currently on your plate, these three time management strategies may help you feel far less overwhelmed, which will help you get more accomplished in the process.

Delegate and Outsource. One of the biggest things that you can do to improve your time management is actually simple to understand. You do not need to do everything, let alone do it all in one day. Rather than try to take everything on by yourself, learn how to delegate and outsource by offering parts of projects to those who can help. If you believe that someone can manage part of a project more efficiently than you, ask for their help. Focus on the parts of projects that you know that you can complete, and do not allow yourself to become overwhelmed by the details.

Set Time Limits and Time Budgets. Every task that you tackle should have a realistic time limit or time budget set for it. This way, you can better work productively on each and every task based on individual time limits. When you give a task an indefinite amount of time, or when you try to tack a single time limit onto a very large project, it is much more difficult to get things done in a timely manner. Instead, allow each facet of a project to have a time budget and you will be able to get a lot more accomplished.

Learn to Say No. You need to learn how to say no not only to your own self, but also to other people in your life who have unrealistic expectations of you. People often take on far too much and that is one of the largest causes of things simply not getting accomplished. Don't take on more than you can handle, letting yourself and other people down in the process. Instead, simply learn how to say no when you do not think that you can accomplish a given task, rather than taking it on and allowing for it to overwhelm you further.

How To Lose Belly Fat

By James Redder

I don't know a thing about you, but I'll bet that you didn't think it would be that difficult to lose belly fat with all of the fitness technologies that currently exist. Learning how to lose belly fat and/or weightloss is still a pretty popular subject in the workout world. If you have a little to lose or a lot (i.e. pregnancy) it doesn't matter. The three basic elements of the fat-loss solution are: Lower daily calorie intake, Increase daily calorie burn rate and use resistance training to build and firm muscle mass. These actions will lead to consistent fat-loss and should assist in losing weight. Before we get started I think you should know that fat-loss is not selective. Despite the newest exercise or fitness device claims. However, the first place you tend to lose it is often the stomach area. This is also the area for significant weight loss as well.

Decrease Calories

Becoming aware of what we eat and drink during the day is paramount to our purposes here. We are trying to get into the habit of not gaining weight by drinking calories. Starting the habit of drinking water instead of other drinks which supply calories is a great way to start. Were you aware of the fact that in a week's time you will ingest almost 1,000 calories consuming one soft drink daily? Which means conversely, that you would be losing 1,000 calories by the end of the week by drinking water. This means about losing one pound a month just from switching to water.

Maximize Daily Calorie Output

You can almost double your efforts by taking in less calories and burning more calories at the same time. This synergistic effect may sound sound too simple to be true but it is very effective. To get started you need to burn more then 140 calories or so above what you would normally consume in a day. This can be done by increasing your walking, climbing stairs, jogging, running or exercising with kettle bells. Basically just find a way to move around more than you normally do. Those who follow these actions will cause one who loses weight to do so consistently.

Implement Resistance Training

By not incorporating this essential action into your daily program you will end up losing both muscle and fat. No big deal you may wonder but you wanted muscle tone as well. Just remember you didn't do this to have a lot of loose skin hanging around. Resistance training makes sure the right message is passed to your body. This message is as follows,"Let's keep the muscle and in fact let's make it stronger." If this message is not communicated then you will potentially use muscle for energy leading to loose skin.

In Conclusion

You have been exposed to the bare essentials of losing belly fat in this article. If you commit to follow the action suggested in this article it will lead to losing weight and increased fat-loss. It's important that you remember to keep safety first so you do not injure yourself in the process of losing belly fat.

Procrastination is opportunity's assassin." - Victor Kiam, American businessman, Remington Electric Razors (1926-2001)

When it comes to the Law of Attraction, like is going to attract like. That is the most simple part of all of it. What does this mean? If you procrastinate you are going to draw others that do the same thing. It may be a cycle that consumes your life and prevents you from getting what you truly want.

Law of Attraction - Like Attracts Like

We can be our own worst enemy at times, and you will definitely find this is true when it comes to the Law of Attraction. You are going to have to be honest with yourself and determine why you procrastinate. You need to then focus on changing those patterns of behavior and moving on from them. So what are you going to do when there is a problem on the road to your goals. Are you going to sit there and let things happen to you or are you going to find a positive solution so you can get past the hurdle?

For example consider a child who is going to a party. She may have anticipated it all day long. She gets ready early but then realizes there is something on the dress she picked out. She won't let it spoil her good time though. She has plenty of time to get the dress cleaned up or she will simply choose another one to wear. Another child may have waited until the very last minute to prepare for the party as they are a procrastinator. When they find that their dress has something on it they may end up very upset as they are not going to be late for the party.

Many individuals who do procrastinate have a hard time asking themselves why. What it comes down to though is fear. They are allowing that type of negative energy to determine what will take place in their life. They may be afraid of being rejected so they don't present an idea at work or make phone calls that could help their career. They are afraid to get their feet wet in the water as they have a fear that they will surely drown if they do.

Focus instead on the following tools that will help you set yourself up for success by inspiring inspiration. Using the law of attraction, you can actually INSPIRE INSPIRATION and ALIGNED ACTION.

Many people feel guilty about the results of their actions due to procrastination. This too is a form of very negative energy. Instead of focusing on that, think about how you can turn it all around for yourself. You need to be your own pep squad and inspire yourself to do better with such issues.

To overcome procrastination here are a few practical tips:

1. If you can read your goals each day they will mean more to you. Keep a written copy of them in various places where you are sure to be able to reflect on them several times each day.

2. Don't be overwhelmed by the size of the task. Work to identify smaller pieces of the overall puzzle that you can reach for. Each one of these smaller accomplishments are going to motivate you to keep on reaching for more as well. The amount of positive energy that you can generate from this process is unbelievable. That first small goal can be the scariest one to reach for. Once you complete it though you will be excited to grasp the next one.

3. Get started today - Don't put it off and let the negative energy of procrastinating take over. You need to decide to start RIGHT NOW. Take those first few steps and it will feel great! This is definitely going to inspire you to keep on moving forward instead of succumbing to your old behavior of procrastinating.

4. Dangle a carrot - Motivate yourself by having a carrot out there. When you achieve pieces of our goal you can give yourself that reward. It can be something very small and even something that doesn't cost anything. It needs to be a reward you will really look forward to getting though. When you lack motivation you can turn to this to keep going.

5.Be human and give up perfectionism - Perfectionism is often a reason for procrastination. The fear of doing an imperfect job keeps us on the starting block. An action performed imperfectly is superior to inaction performed perfectly.
